Fashion Tales 2015, sustainable fashion
Milan June 19th, speech of Alfonso Saibene Canepa
Sustainable fashion for production processes which combine environmental protection with innovation. This was the topic discussed during the round table “Change Makers, the material basis of sustainable fashion” which took place in Milan at FashionTales2015, the international conference organised by ModaCult – The Centre for the Study of Fashion and Cultural Production. It was a real meeting of minds featuring designers, media representatives and professionals in the sector as well as the speaker Alfonso Saibene Canepa. According to Saibene Canepa, “sustainability is demonstrated by those involved in production and take the decisions which are making a difference among today’s large textiles industries”. In keeping with the environmentally-friendly strategies of their production process, as well as the SAVEtheWATER-Kitotex® project which reduces the consumption of water and energy by up to 90%, Canepa is the first textile company in the world to sign up to Greenpeace’s Detox campaign to eliminate dangerous substances from the production process to achieve fashion which is cleaner, and sustainable both for the environment and mankind.
