Water Saving and Economic Development
Aquae Venezia Conference 2015
Saving water during production as a driver for economic development was the topic of debate which took place in Venice during the “Aquae 2015” conference. The meeting witnessed presentations of virtuous companies which have adopted the Water footprint, the indicator of sustainability used to measure the total quantity of water consumed in order to make a product. A study carried out in 2014 by DNV GL – Business Assurance showed that most companies in the primary, secondary and tertiary sectors take account of issues related to water resources in their business strategies: a significant number have already adopted their own measures to manage water problems as part of a long-term approach. During a round table, Alfonso Saibene Canepa spoke of the work done by the Canepa group in developing and patenting the SAVEtheWATER/Kitotex process, leading to significant water and energy savings as well as eliminating harmful substances.
